WayPoint Terms of Use
Effective date: November 2, 2026
These terms cover your use of the WayPoint app on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and the website waypointplanner.app. WayPoint is made by David Leder, an independent developer in San Jose, California ("I", "me").
When you download WayPoint, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple EULA") applies. These terms add to the Apple EULA. If the two disagree, the Apple EULA wins.
1. Who can use WayPoint
You must be at least 13 to use WayPoint. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian should read these terms with you and agree to them for you. In some states, Apple will also ask a parent or guardian to approve the download or purchase.
2. Free trial and WayPoint Unlock
- WayPoint is free to download and includes a 14-day free trial of every feature. You start the trial in the app, and it's recorded by Apple as a $0 in-app purchase named "14-day Trial."
- When the trial ends, you can still open and read everything you've added: classes, notes, Library files, plans and study guides. Creating new plans and study guides, adding notes and syncing Schoology need the WayPoint Unlock.
- The WayPoint Unlock is a one-time purchase at the price shown in the App Store. It is not a subscription and never renews. One purchase works on all of your iPhones, iPads and Macs signed in to the same Apple Account, and it can be shared with your Family Sharing group.
- Apple handles all payments. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies at reportaproblem.apple.com. I can't issue refunds myself.
- I may change the price for future buyers. A price change never affects a purchase you've already made.
3. Your content is yours
Everything you add to WayPoint stays yours: classes, notes, scans, files, glossary terms, and the plans and study guides the app makes for you. It's stored on your device and, if you choose, in your own iCloud account. I don't receive a copy and claim no rights to it. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Only add material you have the right to use. For example, scan or import your own notes and handouts and textbooks you have access to. Don't use WayPoint to copy or share material in a way that breaks copyright.
4. Academic integrity
WayPoint is built to help you plan and study, not to do your work for you. Its plans and study guides are a starting point you still have to work from. You're responsible for following your school's and your teachers' rules about planning tools, study aids and AI. If a class doesn't allow AI tools, don't use WayPoint's AI features for that class.
5. AI features
Plans, day overviews and study guides are made on your device by Apple Intelligence. They're generated automatically and can be incomplete or wrong: a due date might be misread, a study guide might leave out a topic or state something inaccurately, and a plan might not fit your real schedule. Always check them against your assignments, your class materials and what your teachers tell you. WayPoint is not a tutor, a teacher, a counselor or a source of professional advice.
AI features need a device and operating system that support Apple Intelligence. They're not available on every device, and Apple controls how they work and when they're available.
6. Other services WayPoint works with
- Schoology. WayPoint can read a Schoology calendar feed that you link. WayPoint is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Schoology or PowerSchool. Schoology is a trademark of its owner. Whether a feed is available, and what it contains, depends on Schoology and your school. Your school's own rules about Schoology still apply to you.
- Wikipedia. Glossary lookups show text from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 License. WayPoint isn't affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation.
- Apple services. Calendar, Reminders, iCloud, Apple Intelligence and the App Store are provided by Apple under Apple's terms.
I'm not responsible for those services, for changes they make, or for content they provide.
7. Backups
WayPoint keeps your data on your devices and, if you turn it on, in iCloud. There's no WayPoint server holding a backup. If you lose or erase a device without iCloud sync or a device backup, its WayPoint data can be lost. Turning on iCloud for WayPoint and keeping regular device backups is strongly recommended.
8. Acceptable use
Don't reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the app except as the law allows. Don't use WayPoint to break the law, to harm others, or to get around the security of Schoology, your school or anyone else's systems.
9. Changes and availability
I may update WayPoint, add or remove features, or stop offering it. If I stop offering WayPoint, the app will keep working on your devices as long as Apple's systems allow, and your data stays with you.
10. Disclaimers
WayPoint is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, I make no promises that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or right for your particular needs, and I disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some places don't allow these disclaimers, so some of them may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, I'm not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, grades, time or opportunities, arising from your use of WayPoint. My total liability for any claim about WayPoint is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California, except that either of us may bring a claim in small claims court where we qualify.
13. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms. I'll change the effective date above and, for significant changes, mention them in the app's release notes before they take effect. If you keep using WayPoint after that, the updated terms apply.
